Man injured in rollover flown to Phoenix hospital
A man injured Saturday evening in a rollover at the roundabout at Highway 89 and Willow Lake Road was flown to a Phoenix hospital for further treatment, said Lt. Andy Reinhardt, spokesman for the Prescott Police Department.
At 6:50 p.m., officers answered a call about a single vehicle collision at the roundabout.
The driver, who was headed northbound, crossed the southbound lane, drove into a ditch, then over an embankment and driveway before coming to rest at the roundabout crosswalk, Fletcher said.
The man may have had a medical issue that led to the crash, said Sgt. Tim Fletcher, traffic safety supervisor for Prescott police.
The man had a compound fracture of his lower leg, was treated at the scene by Life Line paramedics, then flown to John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital in Phoenix for further treatment, Fletcher said.
"The man was in surgery Saturday night, but was doing well and was expected to make a recovery," Fletcher said.
Officers closed the roadway for several hours as they investigated the collision with their Total Station accident investigation tool, Fletcher said.
The injured man's name was not available, Fletcher added.
