Viewpoint: Paulden circus attracted big crowds for both shows

Last Friday the Paulden Area Community Organization (PACO) welcomed the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to the community of Paulden. The day began with preparations for the Tent Raising and Circus Tour. Following the tent raising and tours, the rest of the afternoon had the circus crew setting up for the two sold out shows later in the evening.

A poignant moment arose when Miss Simone the Ring Master introduced two special needs friends of PACO, Beth and Paula to a very appreciative round of applause.

An even larger crowd lined up for the second performance and heard great revues from those exiting the earlier show. Once again the circus fulfilled expectations and delighted an appreciative audience. During intermissions of both shows the crowd was invited to partake in a pony ride, take in the reptile exhibit or visit the concession stand and gift shop.

PACO has many people to thank in helping to bring the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to town. Thanks to Dewey Levie for the use of his property, Kevan Larson for supplying the parking area and having Pee Wee clear the circus site. To our ticket outlets, State Wide Realty, State Farm Insurance, Chino Ship & Copy and Java Chuck Wagon (for the morning donuts too). Chino Valley Rental for equipment and traffic cones. Thanks, to all the local businesses (more than 30) who participated in the circus "gifting program". PACO could not have provided this community event without your help and the assistance of the Culpepper & Merriweather Staff.

The President of PACO would like to thank the Board of Directors and the PACO membership for supporting this effort. He would especially like to thank a couple of men whose names have been asked not to be mentioned but with whose help and hours of hard work truly made this event possible.

(Creagan McConnell is a Paulden resident and president of PACO.)
