Anna Elizabeth Miles passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Strafford, Vt., the daughter of Henry Barrett and Elizabeth Cummings. She was 89 years old.
Anna was a great cook and loved feeding family and friends. Her apple pies were famous and loved by all who ate them. She generously opened her heart and home to her children, family, and friends, and so many young students from all over the world throughout her life. Anna was very active in all churches she attended and volunteered to help clothe and feed the poor and those who were in need. She belonged to Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott were she enjoyed music and the congregation.
Anna is preceded in death by her loving father, Henry Barnett Cummings from Strafford, Vt.; aunt Mary C. Colby (Nana), who raised her; brother Earl Cummings of Strafford; and sister Mildred Johnson of Bridgeport, Ohio.
Anna is survived by her loving sons, James H. (Anita) Reed of Prescott, Ariz.; Edwin E. (Tootie) Reed of Brokenbow, Okla.; John D. (Yolanda) Reed of Omaha, Neb.; loving daughter, Susan I. (Peter) Ardison of Merced, Calif.; and sister Jean Peck of Gloversville, N.Y.
Memorial services will be held noon Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Willow Hills Baptist Church 1071 Magollon Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make donations in memory of Anna's love of music to Willow Hills Baptist Church, 1071 Magollon Road, Prescott, AZ 86301, for "The Piano Fund."
