Traffic issues dominate agenda for PV council meeting

PRESCOTT VALLEY - Traffic issues will dominate the agenda of the Town Council when it meets for a study session Thursday.

The first agenda item will be a construction contract award and engineering agreement for the Highway 69 median at Sundog Ranch Road.

Seven landscape contractors submitted bids for the project, ranging from $39,152 to $68,016.

A landscaped median came with the construction in 2008 of the Crossroads shopping center on both sides of Highway 69 at Sundog Ranch Road. Since then, town officials have worked with Arizona Department of Transportation staff to add trees to improve the appearance of the highway at the location, according to a memo to the council from Public Works Director Norm Davis.

The council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the library auditorium, 7401 E. Civic Circle. The council will take no action at the meeting.

Also on the agenda are:

• A discussion on repealing a town code that requires the Police Department to register all bicycles that are being used within the town.

• A talk on amending town code to clarify the authority of staff to locate traffic control devices and delegate the responsibility for doing so to the appropriate town departments.

• A discussion on amending the town code to make the town engineer responsible for serving as traffic engineer as well.
