Mildred (Mickey) Hail

Mildred (Mickey) Hail of Chino Valley, Ariz., suddenly passed away on June 19, 2011.

Born Sept. 24, 1918, in Matoon, Ill., to parents George Roedell and Latitia Vogel Roedell. Mickey survived one brother and four sisters.

During WWII, Mickey worked as a forklift operator in the steel mills of East Chicago. She also excelled at pattern-making and sewing while attending a sewing college. In later years, Mickey was a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper/secretary.

Mickey moved to Arizona in 1957, to Prescott in 1962 and finally to Chino Valley in 1982 after Willow Creek flooded, damaging her home and vehicles.

As an avid community participant, Mickey was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, Lions Club and the Lioness Club (former commander of the Chino Valley chapter). She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, handed out U.S. food subsidies, and was very supportive of Stepping Stones in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Mickey was a loving wife to Earl Hail (deceased Oct. 25, 2006) and mother to Frederick George Fletcher (deceased March 20, 2007, at age 55), Karen Kay Samuelson and her husband Don Trusty of Prescott, Ariz., and to foster daughter Janetta Fuller and her husband Dean of Chino Valley, Ariz., grandmother to Christina Landon of Idaho, Patricka Fletcher of Scottsdale, Justin Fletcher of Iowa, Leslie Fletcher of Pennsylvania, Rachel Warriner of Pennsylvania, and Jared and Taylor Samuelson of Prescott. Mickey was also blessed with eight great- grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1524 N. Highway 89, Chino Valley, AZ 86323, 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Stepping Stones, 3343 N. Windsong, Ste. 9, Prescott, AZ 86314, 928-772-4184.

Mickey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by many.
