Obituary: Larry Donald Sowell

Larry Donald Sowell, 86, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. Larry was born on Dec. 17, 1924 to Eva and Fred Sowell in Safford, Ariz.

He attended high school in Coolidge, Ariz. and college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. Larry has lived in Prescott, Ariz. for the past 30 years.

Larry was a veteran of World War II and member of the U.S. Navy. He participated in the D-Day allied invasion at the beaches of Normandy, France. Larry was also an officer of the Salvation Army church in Prescott, Ariz.

Larry is survived by daughter Laura Kay Sowell; and sons Larry Donald Sowell Jr. and Robert Bruce Sowell. He is preceded in death by wife Ellen Bradshaw Sowell and preceded by wife Kathleen Killingsworth Sowell.

The funeral will be at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz. at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011.
