Obituary: Norma Shaw Richards

Norma Shaw Richards was born to Morton and Emma (Bowler) Gilbert on April 11, 1927, in Lockport, N.Y., and was released into the arms of our Father God on Monday, May 30, 2011, at her home in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

She retired from Home Federal Savings & Loan as branch manager and vice president after 28 years of service. She also served a four-year term as president of the Vista Senior Citizen's Services in Vista, Calif. Norma loved serving others through work and volunteering and was loved and respected by many. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Shaw Holzmann (Jim) of Prescott Valley; son Steve Shaw (Leslie) of Vista; sister Shirley Alspach (Ed) of Vista; grandchildren Nanci Bosick (Shaun) and Leanne Shearer (Jonathan) of Prescott Valley, Wesley Shaw (Bryan) of San Diego, Calif., and Bart Shaw of Vista; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney Richards, on Jan. 7, 2007.

A service will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on June 23, 2011 at noon. Her remains will be laid to rest with her husband, Sid. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Faith Community Church, 639 E. Felicita Ave., Escondido, CA 92025.

Sunrise Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
