Community News: Joyce Haas becomes president of Prescott Art Docents
Sixty-two Prescott Art Docents were present at the Pine Cone Inn recently to observe the installation of Joyce Haas as the organization's 2011-12 president at their 40th annual Presidents' Luncheon. Current co-presidents Brigie Dickinson and Jeri Shaffer officiated at the ceremony. Haas has been a docent since 2006.
The organization also honored four new graduates: Karen Buta, Donna Endresen, Christine Hardyman and Bonita Sandleben. These four were recognized for completing the nine-month docent training program. The new docents will share their love of art with area schoolchildren via outreach art programs designed to bring the art museum experience to the classroom.
While the new graduates were welcomed, long-term and hard-working art docents were recognized for their service during the 2010-2011 year. Mary Ann Billings was named Docent of the Year, and Allan Isham received the President's Award. Ruth Godow and Arlene Nemec were honored for 20 years of service, and Jean Isham and Allan Isham for 10 years of service.
Recognized for more than 200 hours of service during the 2011-12 year were Bobbie Engle, Helena Howell, Harriett Neal, Doris Piatak, Carol Ann Schreiber and Pam Sprengelmeyer. For dedicating more than 300 service hours during the past year, Jeanne Blumer, Katherine Eaton, Allan Isham, Jean Isham, Carolyn Harris, Andrea Kirinich-Hartmann, Jeri Shaffer, Nancy Shugrue and Linda Wheeler were recognized.
