News Briefs: Free Fishing Sat. at Prescott lake
As part of National Fishing and Boating Week, the Arizona Game & Fish Department and the City of Prescott will offer Free Fishing Day on June 11, 8 a.m.-noon, at Goldwater Lake outside Prescott.
No fishing licenses are required for persons fishing any public waters in Arizona on Free Fishing Day. Game & Fish staff will be on hand to assist anglers, and bait will be provided and loaner rods will be available.
Kids under the age of 14 can fish for free all year long in Arizona, so this special fishing license exemption day means that older kids and parents get a free pass for the day.
Bag limits and other fishing regulations are in full effect and must be observed on Free Fishing Day.
To get to Goldwater Lake, take Gurley Street into Prescott and turn south (left coming from Chino) on Mt. Vernon Ave., which becomes Senator Highway; stay on the highway for a few miles and the lake is on the right.
For more information, people can call the Arizona Game and Fish Department Kingman office at (928) 692-7700.
