Letter: Jazz summit a howlin' success
A big thank-you from the Prescott Jazz Summit! We have many people to thank for the unbelievable success of our "Howlin' at the Highlands" Jazz Series at the Highlands Center for Natural History. First of all, thanks to Dave Irvine and the wonderful staff at the Highlands Center for offering such a wonderful venue at their amphitheater and for being such great hosts. Our next thank-you goes out to Karen Despain and the Courier staff for giving us such fantastic publicity. You have been a huge part of our success. Our last thank-you goes to the people of Prescott and the quad-city area for coming out in record numbers and being such a responsive and warm audience for our musicians.
I do have one apology, and that is to all the people who were turned away on July 9 for our second concert of the series. It is truly amazing that, on a rainy and stormy night, we would completely sell out the venue and have to turn carloads of people away. A good idea for our jazz fans would be to buy tickets early online for the Aug. 13 final "Howlin' at the Highlands" concert at www.prescottjazz.com.
We plan to do many more events throughout the year, including the Prescott Jazz Summit Festival coming up on Aug. 26-28.
Thanks again to everyone.
