Prescott school transitioning to charter from private
La Tierra Community School's families and staff are readying their new complex at 124 N. Virginia St. for the opening day of school on Aug. 8.
The school serves grades kindergarten through third through its public charter, and grades four and five through its private school.
La Tierra is an elementary expeditionary learning school and focuses on cultures and languages of the Southwest and offers Spanish daily at all grade levels. The school just completed its first year as a private school and is transitioning into a charter school for its second year.
All teachers are certified elementary teachers in Arizona and all hold endorsements in structured English immersion, said Anita Fernandez, co-founder of La Tierra.
