2 seriously injured in rollover on Highway 69
Two men, identified as Kenneth Perkins, 46, of Humboldt and Jason Metiva, 34, of Dewey, were seriously injured when their 1994 Jeep rolled over on Highway 69 near Bradshaw Mountain Road Thursday morning and went by air ambulance to John C. Lincoln hospital in Phoenix, according to Prescott Valley Police Department spokesman Brandon Bonney.
The Jeep, driven by Perkins, was traveling northbound in the fast lane of Highway 69. A 2010 Honda Ridgeline was in the slow lane and swerved into the fast lane, causing the Jeep's driver to take evasive action, Bonney said. The Jeep then entered the painted median, and the driver lost control, crossed back over both northbound lanes of the highway, and then went into a ditch, where it rolled and the driver was ejected, Bonney said. The occupants of the Honda were not injured, he said.
At this time, it is unknown why the Honda entered the fast lane. Impairment does not seem to be a factor, Bonney said, adding the injured men were not wearing seatbelts.
