Obituary: Jeannie Marie Dibbens
Jeannie Marie Dibbens, 86, died peacefully at her home in Camp Verde on Jan. 18, 2011.
She was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on March 26, 1924, to John R. and Rose Cavanaugh. While serving as a Navy nurse during WWII, she met and married the love of her life, her best friend, her soul mate, Norman. They were loving and constant companions for more than 65 years.
In the face of overwhelming medical issues and against all odds, in 1950 they moved to Arizona, where they had five children.
Jeannie was a 1974 graduate of Yavapai Community College and a member of the American Legion. What she loved most and excelled at was her chosen profession of homemaker. She was an incredibly loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has left a family that truly loved her and will always have her in their hearts.
She is survived by her husband Norman; daughter Linda (Joe) Meyers; sons Michael (Susie) Dibbens and Darren (Jeannette) Dibbens; granddaughters Christina (Randy) Stone, Rebecca Smejkal and Jamie Dibbens; grandsons Tory (Heather) Campbell and John (Michelle) Schulz; and by seven great-grandchildren. Her daughter Patti Jo Dibbens and son Timothy Dibbens pre-deceased her.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, in the chapel at Bueler Funeral Home in Camp Verde, Ariz. Interment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Verde Valley Community Hospice.
