Police seek tips from the public in Cottonwood criminal damage case

Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies seek suspects in a string of criminal damage incidents Jan. 10 that left behind smashed windshields, a shattered window and damaged mailboxes in the Verde Village area of Cottonwood.

At 2 a.m., deputies answered a call about the damage from a person whose vehicle's windshield had been smashed while parked in the 1600 block of Pecos Drive.

A friend of the victim told deputies he saw a vehicle leaving the area about that time but wasn't able to give deputies a description of it, said Dwight D'Evelyn, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

Later that afternoon, deputies spoke with several other victims whose property had been damaged late Sunday evening or early Monday morning, including a person whose camper window was shattered on Acoma Drive, a truck's windshield smashed on Del Mar Drive and group mailboxes damaged on Quail Springs Ranch Road and Quail Run Road.

Deputies think the suspects drove by their targets and damaged property while still in their vehicle using a long, slender rod-type instrument with a sharp edge, D'Evelyn said.

If you have any information about the suspects or their vehicle, you are urged to contact the Sheriff's office at (928) 771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1 (800) 932-3232 and reference report number 11-000933.

If the information you provide to Silent Witness leads to the arrest of a suspect, a reward will be offered.
