Prescott police booked Daniel Hugh Shaw, 53, into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde on Friday on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal trespassing after Shaw allegedly resisted arrest by wrestling with an officer trying to handcuff him after he violated a trespassing warning at a Prescott bank.
The bank manager told the officer that Shaw, after being issued a trespass warning and told not to return, had retuned to the business.
When the officer tried to speak with Shaw at his home, Shaw allegedly became agitated, refused repeated commands to sit and calm down, squared off as if to fight the officer, grabbed the officer's hand and actively resisted when the officer tried to handcuff him, according to police reports. As the officer tried to bring Shaw to the ground, Shaw allegedly wrestled with him and pushed the officer, according to the police report.
Later, Shaw told the officer that he had spoken to bank management who told him he could return to the bank, so he went in for about five minutes and made a payment, according to the police report.
