Obituary: Frances DeGruy Thiel

Frances DeGruy Thiel, a native of Mobile, Ala., passed away peacefully in Edgewood, Wash., on Feb. 19, 2011. She was 79 years old.

Born and raised in Mobile, Ala., she attended Auburn University, where she met her husband, Louis H.C. Thiel, who later was commissioned as an officer and aviator in the Navy. Fran and Lou retired to Prescott, Ariz., where they lived for almost 20 years before moving to Edgewood.

Fran is survived by her husband of 55 years, Louis; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Pat Gaines; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Leslie Thiel; her grandchildren, Andy and Brad and his wife, Aura; and her step grandchildren, Jamie and David.
