The A.R.S. 43-1089 G bill states that a contribution that is made on or before April 15 following the close of the taxable year may be applied to either the current or preceding taxable year.
This revision of the private school tax credit law as of Jan. 1, 2011, allows Arizona taxpayers to donate to a student tuition organization between Jan. 1 and April 15, and can use that donation as a tax credit on their 2010 OR 2011 Arizona tax returns. Married couples filing a joint return can donate as much as $1,000 and single taxpayers can donate up to $500. You will receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit from the state of Arizona. This law applies only to private school student tuition organizations.
The Orme Primavera Schools Foundation distributes all donations to deserving and qualified students every year, meaning those students and their families who meet standards of financial need and merit. Please talk to your accountant or tax preparer today about writing a check to the Orme Primavera Schools Foundation and take your private school tax credit for 2010. These are the dollars used to award scholarships at both The Orme School and Primavera School in Prescott.
Thank you to those taxpayers that have already donated their tax dollars, and I hope that others will take advantage of the extended time frame to make a 2010 donation. Go to the website at www.ormeprimaveraschoolsfoundation.org for additional information.
