Letter: Contact representatives about community's needs

EDITOR:

One just has to drive up and down the streets to see the glaring vacancies and business closures continuing on a daily basis. No sector has been spared.

Such was a recent closure with MacMillian Construction Co. A tower of strength and a strong force in our community for 37 years, MacMillan represented what was good and admirable, and earned the respect of their fellow contractors and business owners and our governmental leaders.

It has been a privilege to have had MacMillan Construction Co. serve this community. There are other companies as well that have given their heart and have displayed relentless courage, vision, ability and a profound faith in helping to build Yavapai County. Words are inadequate to describe the closing of MacMillan Construction, along with so many other companies that have shuttered their doors.

I can only hope that the plight of struggling firms will soon stop. This economy has damaged so many fine folks and the good work that they have contributed to our small but growing community. Given the implosive impact of the economy in our area alone, I am afraid that we will continue to see more job losses, more bankruptcies emerging and a domino effect leading to the loss of more companies that have been the heart and soul of our area.

We need to send an alert to our governor, our state Senators and Representatives that our economy is at risk and they need to be determined to do whatever is prudent and necessary to save us!

To MacMillan Construction and others, thank you for helping to build Prescott.
