The Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo, which is celebrating its 124th year in 2011, this week announced the dates and times for its eight performances over the summer at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, 848 Rodeo Drive.
This year's rodeo will run from Tues., June 28, through Mon., July 4, with 7:30 p.m. performances slated for June 28 through Fri., July 1, and Sun., July 3. Sat., July 2, will feature a pair of showings at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., with the finale scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, or PRCA, Prescott Frontier Days includes both judged roughstock events (bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding) and timed events (steer wrestling, tie-down and team roping, and barrel racing) during each performance.
Ranked among the finest rodeos in America, Prescott Frontier Days traditionally attracts several of the top names in the sport from across the United States while luring tens of thousands of spectators each year.
This past summer in Tucson, Prescott Frontier Days received a prestigious Special Recognition Award from Gov. Jan Brewer during the Governor's Tourism Conference in honor of the rodeo's impact on Arizona's tourism industry.
