Cordes Lakes Library the place for holiday fun and games
Steve Decker was in place and singing Christmas carols at the Cordes Lakes Library on Dec. 16 as children arrived to decorate cookies and sing along.
Mrs. Claus had the cookies all ready to decorate, along with tubes and tubs of frosting and bowls of decorations from sprinkles to small candies. All ages were able to take part in this activity from the "under one" group to the pre-teens.
The present walk - like a cake walk - was crowded as Decker played and sang "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." Many sang along and were able to stop quickly when he stopped the music. Ashleigh Foxworth held up the gift she won for all to see.
The highlight of the afternoon was a surprise visit from Santa. When he walked in all other activities ceased. Santa's big red bag bulged with toys and he came in with a hearty "ho ho ho." He listened to requests, handed out a gift to each child, and managed to remain calm when Lila Smith let it be known she didn't like Santa and wanted mommy.
Cookies and games soon had everyone busy again, while Santa patiently held children on his lap as parents quickly snapped a picture.
