Christmas City's signature event honored the state's impending centennial by lighting up 100 trees - more than double the usual number - Saturday evening at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza in downtown Prescott. About 5,000 people attended the 57th annual courthouse lighting ceremony, which also featured a retelling of the story of the first Christmas by Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett, along with Christmas music from local choirs.

The lights will be on every night from 5:30 p.m. to midnight until Martin Luther King Day weekend in mid-January.
