News Briefs: Cowboy Poets gather Sept. 15-17 in Prescott

The Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering in Prescott will be Sept. 15-17, joining the kick-off weekend for the Arizona Centennial Celebration. Entertainers will include Don Edwards, Eli Barsi, Bill Snow Jr. and the Desert Sons .As in the past there is no charge for the daytime session at Yavapai College on Sheldon Street in Prescott.

Don Edwards and specially selected poets will start the weekend off at the Elks Opera House on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. People can buy tickets for this performance on the website,

The Gathering's opening ceremonies start at noon on Sept. 16 in the Performance Hall at the college. More than 50 poets and musicians will present a full spectrum of their heritage and culture in the form of poems and song. Sept. 17, it starts all over again at 8 a.m. with "coffee with the cowboys" and at 9 a.m. concurrent sessions begin and run until 5 p.m.
