Letter: Local teacher reaches out to troops, family
On July 5, my husband and I were checking out at Walmart. We had been shopping for our grandson, who is a marine stationed in Afghanistan. We had our purchases in a flat-rate box so we would know they fit. We told the clerk to scan them, but please put them back in the box as we were going right to the post office to mail it to our grandson in Afghanistan. The attractive young woman behind us in line said, "I would like to pay for your box of thins," and she did. Her kindness brought tears to the eyes of both my husband and I.
As we talked, we found out this caring, giving young woman was Mrs. Chris Hunter, a math teacher at Prescott High School. She said many of her students are now serving our country, and we can't do enough for them. What a privilege it was to meet her.
We would like to honor and thank her as she has honored our troops. Prescott is blessed to have such godly teachers impacting the lives of so many. As we parted she reminded us of Psalm 91 - the Soldier's Prayer.
