Letter: Wisconsin Dems did constituents' will
Concerning Mr. Charlesworth's letter to the editor on Sunday, April 17, "Elected officials are breaking their oaths," he is wrong about the elected Wisconsin legislators who skipped out of the state so there wouldn't be a vote allowing Gov. Walker to eviscerate the public employee unions. He said those legislators were going against what they were elected for.
Wrong, Mr. Charlesworth. The Wisconsin Democrats who got them into office, who are also "We the People" by the way, wanted their legislators to do exactly as they did -keep the union-busting bill from coming to a vote - which was a very brave thing for them to do. It was Walker who went against his campaign promises. Hence the recall campaign for him - and for some of the other Republican legislators who went along with him.
Mr. C., you really need to get your facts right.
