Semi rolls over, leaks fuel on Highway 89A onramp near 89
A tractor-trailer rig came to rest on its side near the intersection of highways 89 and 89A at 9:45 a.m. Monday after the driver wasn't able to make a turn and the semi rolled over, said Eric Kriwer, spokesman for the Prescott Fire Department.
"The driver was able to exit out the passenger side door and was not injured," Kriwer said.
The truck was carrying sediment from the sanitary district retention ponds on Sundog Ranch Road, Kriwer said.
"Prescott HazMat was called out because one of the rig's saddle tanks was leaking fuel," Kriwer said. "Crews were able to secure the leak and notified the EPA and the company, which is tasked with cleaning up the leak."
Shortly before 3 p.m., Kriwer said the company was in the process of cleaning up the leak.
The intersection of highways 89 and 89A was closed for two hours as crews cleaned up the scene, but the area has now reopened, Kriwer said.
