'Chalk it Up!' outdoor art fest is this weekend in Prescott
Prescott's popular outdoor art fest "Chalk it Up!" is back.
All day Saturday and Sunday artists of all ages are invited to pick up some chalk and lay down some art at the Summit Bank parking lot, 201 N. Montezuma St., in Prescott.
Chalk staff provides each artist with water-based chalk and a 4-foot by 4-foot "canvas" block of the parking lot. Artists may bring their own chalk, but it must be water-based and not oil-based.
Participants do not have to pre-register, but if they want a larger space, they should call 708-0386 to reserve it.
Organizers suggest bringing a color photograph or drawing of your piece so that you can tape it next to your box to use as a guide. Another suggestion is to transfer the drawing or photo using grid lines.
It's a good idea to bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, water and snacks. You can leave your work and come back later. You don't have to stay the entire day.
Live entertainment happens throughout the day, adding to the festive atmosphere. The event is free.
