Eberhard Eiynck

Eberhard Eiynck, formerly of Chino Valley, Ariz., moved to Gilbert, Ariz., in 2003. Eberhard was born on Nov. 26, 1925, in Danube, Minn., to August and Apolonia Eiynck. He was the third-oldest of 11 children. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, Calif.

Eberhard passed away April 4, 2011, at Friendship Village, Tempe, Ariz. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2011, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 440 E. Elliot Road, Gilbert. Burial of cremated remains will follow the services at the church at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, Ariz.

Those left behind are his wife Margaret of 62 years; daughter Linda Thibodeau (Joseph) of Gilbert; granddaughter Tammy Thibodeau Hamovitz of Tempe, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Derreck Hamovitz of Tempe; brothers Henry Eiynck (Valaria) of St. Cloud, Minn., August Eiynck (Doris) of Coon Rapids, Minn.; sisters Delores Curtis (Vernon) of Waite Park, Minn., Luella Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn., Theadora Anderson (Floyd) of St. Paul, Minn., and Violet Swanson (Jim) of Wyoming, Minn.; sisters-in-law Lorraine Eiynck of Santee, Calif., Doreen Eiynck of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Harriet Eiynck of Roberts, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. Those who preceded him in death are great-granddaughter Hailey Hamovitz; brothers Isidore Eiynck, Edmund Eiynck, Clarence Eiynck and Paul Eiynck; sisters-in-law Lydia and Lillian Eiynck; and brother-in-law Lloyd Anderson.

He was a very loving man and was always there to give a helping hand to anyone. He loved his family dearly. He had a big heart and no one was a stranger to him. He enjoyed life. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Fishing was his favorite sport besides baseball games he attended, and he also passed a lot of time on picture puzzles and word puzzles.
