As the thermometer soared past 100 degrees in the Valley of the Sun Monday, the Bradshaw Mountain Lady Bear golfers got hot and surged past the competition for their first win of the year. Bradshaw took first with 249. Agua Fria trailed with 271 and Dysart was disqualified.
The medalist from Agua Fria shot a 53.
Megan Waltman, in the No. 1 slot, also shot the low score for the Lady Bears, with a 58.
Joy Bowers and Tayla Wylie played true to their positions of Nos. 2 and 3, shooting 60 and 62, respectively. Leah Jewell brought in a 69 to complete the team score. Alissa D'Alessandro shot 79.
"They all played well," said BMHS coach Dave Capka. "Although it was over 100 degrees, they stuck it out. We're getting better, but need to work on our short game."
He said having his top three shoot scores fairly close together helped the Lady Bears win. Waltman, Bowers and Wylie vie weekly for the top spot on the roster.
