Meals on Wheels honors former Yavapai-Prescott Tribal Chief with dedication
PRESCOTT - Former Yavapai-Prescott Tribal Chief Viola Jimulla will be the focus of a dedication event at the Meals on Wheels dining room on Monday.
The local Meals on Wheels organization will dedicate its dining room at 1280 E. Rosser St. to Jimulla, who served as tribal chief from 1940 until her death in 1966.
Meals on Wheels Director Pam Hanno said the dedication event would include a formal blessing by the Yavapai-Prescott Tribe, along with remarks by Prescott Mayor Marlin Kuykendall.
As a part of the dedication, three images of Jimulla will be featured in a mural on the dining room wall.
"We wanted to name our dining room something special," Hanno said, adding that one of the organization's board members suggested Jimulla, a long-time local leader.
The dedication will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, at the Adult Center on Rosser Street.
