Obituary: Knole "Bud" Shepherd Deacon, Jr.
Knole "Bud" Shepherd Deacon, Jr., age 87, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at his Prescott home with his loving wife and daughter, Amy, at his side; after a brief battle with illness. He was born on Aug. 17, 1923 in Riverside, N.J. to Knole and Elizabeth (Pensinger) Deacon.
Bud graduated from Riverside High School in 1940 and then attended Ryder College in New Jersey. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific and American Theaters as a Radioman. Bud moved to Arizona in 1953. He ran the Chino Valley Truck Stop in the mid 1950s and then moved back to Prescott to open his own accounting office.
Bud is survived by his wife, JoAnn; children, David (Dale), Kathy Spelhaug, Knole Shepherd III (Cindy), Nancy Anderson (Terry), Keith, Amy (Frankie); grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A service for Bud will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at the VA Chapel in Prescott, Ariz. with a committal service to follow. The family suggests donations in Bud's name to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Suite 100, Prescott, AZ 86301.
