Man arrested on charges of child molestation
Chino Valley police arrested a man Thursday on charges including sexual conduct with a minor after a month-long investigation into numerous alleged sex offenses against a child under 15 years old.
An officer booked Roger Stephen Davis, 36, of Chino Valley, into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde on charges of six counts of sexual conduct with a minor, four counts of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of child molestation, and one count of attempted child molestation.
The 14-year-old girl told police that Davis began mentally and sexually abusing her four years ago, and it continued until early 2010, said Sgt. Vincent Schaan of the Chino Valley Police Department.
Investigators learned that the girl did not report the abuse for a long time because of the emotional turmoil and fear caused by Davis, Schaan said.
The girl told her family about the sexual abuse during a summer vacation to visit family in Oklahoma, and they called police, Schaan said.
The Yukon Police Department in Oklahoma assisted the Chino Valley Police in the investigation, which led to Davis' arrest.
