Obituary: Charles Curtis Carter

Charles Curtis Carter "Curt," 81, passed away Oct. 10, 2010. Curt was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo.

He married the love of his life, JoAn B. Thorp, on Oct. 1, 1948. Curt served two terms in the Korean War. In 1957, they moved with their three children to Glendale, Ariz., where they completed their family with two more children. Curt worked in sheet metal for Del E. Webb as the Superintendent of Sun City West. After retiring in 1985, Curt and JoAn traveled by fifth wheel for years before settling in Prescott Valley in 1992. Curt was an active member of the All Saints Anglican Church in Prescott. He loved to help anyone and everyone. He touched everyone's life that he came across. Curt enjoyed spending time with his family, church, camping, boating, hunting and going out to eat.

Curt is survived by his children, Debra (Vince) Thomas, Doug (Diane), Duffin (Debbie), Deana Carlisle (significant other Chuck Keller) and Dana (Scott) Wild; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years and one sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on his birthday, Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott Valley. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. also at Bradshaw Chapel. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice Family Care in Prescott for being so helpful and kind. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to All Saints Anglican Church or Hospice Family Care in Prescott.
