Scottish folk musician Jim Malcolm will be in concert at 7 tonight at Light and Life Methodist Church as the opener for the Prescott Celtic Music Festival that takes place Saturday at Watson Lake Park.
Malcolm became enchanted with the traditional music of Scotland when he was very young. He learned to play guitar in school and, by his early 20s, he was winning songwriting contests and playing in folk clubs all over Scotland. In 1999 he joined the Old Blind Dogs. His big break came when he hosted the open stage at the Edinburgh Folk Festival and won a contract for his first solo album, "Sconeward."
Tickets for the concert are $15 in advance, available at Celtic Crossings Pub at Gateway Mall, or $17 at the door, and are $5 less for students. The Light and Life Methodist Church is located at 2729 Willow Creek Road, Prescott. For more information, call 771-1218. To learn more about Malcolm, visit his website at www.jimmalcolm.com.
