Obituary: Gordon Butler

Gordon Butler was born on Sept. 16, 1940, in Reno, Nev., and passed away on Oct. 16, 2010, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Ariz. He had suffered a massive stroke in July and God took him home to heaven, where we look forward to being reunited with him someday.

Gordon was a loving and much-loved husband, father, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia; and his sons, Brent and Rob Butler and Alan Sisto. He is also survived by his brothers, David, Dennis and Phil, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Franklin and Leora Butler.

Gordon found great joy in singing and playing hymns and gospel songs. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, where he played the organ and piano, and sang in the church quartet and the choir. Music was a significant part of his life. His talent and dedication to playing for the glory of God will be missed by us all.

A memorial service to celebrate Gordon's life and to honor his memory will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Bethel Baptist Church, 6901 E. Horizon Lane, Prescott Valley.
