Letter: Acquisition celebrated with ancient ceremony
On Sept. 29, Prescott College celebrated the gift of 21 original batiks by local artist Kate Rinzler. The Lan Ting ceremony - a 4th-century Chinese gathering of scholars and poets - presented an artists' roundtable, poetry and music recitals, and dancing, along with a banquet of authentic cuisine.
The college's Crossroads Center looked fabulous with the artworks hung around the walls. A longtime friend of Kate's, Clementine Giordano, was honored with the task of curating the event, and did a masterful job. She is the owner of the Division Street Frame shop, and is known for her professional framing and archival mounting of just about anything.
Prescott College hosted an elegant tribute to an accomplished artist. The college and the Public Library have both acquired, and will be displaying, Ms. Rinzler's batiks - splendid additions to Prescott's cultural assets.
