Walnut Grove Elementary fills last vacancy

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter appointed Irene Komadina to the Walnut Grove Elementary School District Governing Board.

Only one person filed for two seats open for election and that created a vacancy on the governing board.

Komadina currently serves on the Walnut Grove Governing Board. She was out of state and unable to file her nomination petitions for re-election. Since no other candidates came forward to apply for the position, she filed a request that Carter appoint her to the board.

The appointment will extend Komadina's term until Dec. 31, 2012.
