PRESCOTT VALLEY - A van struck a school bus Tuesday morning near the Civic Center after the van's driver apparently did not stop at an intersection, Prescott Valley police reported.

Van driver Lonnie J. McKenzie Jr., 63, of Prescott Valley was heading south on Viewpoint Drive before police responded at 7:34 a.m., Sgt. Brandon Bonney said. His van then broadsided a Humboldt Unified School District bus that Lisa Bergman, 52, of Prescott Valley was driving.

McKenzie and a 72-year-old man who works for the school district and was on board might have sustained minor injuries, Bonney reported. However, Bergman and a 6-year-old boy who was on the bus did not report any injuries.

Police are investigating the accident and are looking into the possibility that a medical condition could have contributed to it, Bonney stated.

Police closed portions of Civic Circle to traffic for about an hour.
