Obituary: Betty Beryl Sommers

Betty Beryl Sommers, born June 7, 1931, to Nels Rudolph "Rudy" Nelson and Beryl Genevieve Boyd Nelson in Fargo, N.D., passed away Oct. 27, 2010, at the Marley House in Prescott, Ariz.

Betty was raised at the family farm in Horace, N.D., and attended West Fargo High School. On Feb. 2, 1952, Betty married Donnie Eugene Sommers. Betty, Don and family lived in Sunset, Utah, Yuma and Tucson, Ariz., and retired in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Betty worked as a bank teller in Utah, Tucson and Prescott (Bank of America). Betty was also the bookkeeper for the Lazy T-7 Cattle Company in Yuma for many years.

Betty is survived by her loving companion and best friend, Jerry Burner; daughters, Cathy Jo (Dave) Platt and Stacey Beryl (Sam) Fulkerson; and son, Todd Donnie (Darlene) Sommers; grandchildren, Mike, David, Catherine (James), Don, Hiland (Christina), Nelson, Kane, Ivory Beryl, Kayla, Ashlie and Travis; great grandchildren, Annette, Bun in the oven (Catherine and James), Amy, Alyssa, Andrea and Addison (Hiland and Christina); siblings, Jean (Milton) Burner, Jack (Barb) Nelson, Lora (Paul) Stark, Neil (Anne) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donnie, grandson Kyle (Todd and Darlene), brothers-in-law Faris and Arlen Sommers and sister-in-law Pat Sommers.

She loved her family and friends more than anything and we will all miss her love of laughter and life, great sense of humor, great hugs until we are together again in Heaven through the power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3950 N. Valorie Drive, Prescott Valley, officiated by Pastor Tim Blau.
