Letter: Reader shares his solutions for issues
Herewith a modest proposal to solve both the problem of trespass across our border with Mexico (illegal immigration) and shortage of fresh water in California and our Southwest:
After you secure our border, promote a treaty with Mexico to desalinize the Sea of Cortez (the gulf of California). We build the facility, hire lots of Mexicans to build it and run it, share the fresh water with Mexico and let it flow north in the San Pedro and Santa Cruz rivers.
The result will be water for farming and jobs in Mexico, so that the poor there will not need to leave their beloved country to make a living; and goodwill for the U.S. and fresh water and drinking water flowing once again in our presently dry rivers to make developers and environmentalists happy.
