Alta Vista gardeners to plant bulbs
The Prescott-based Alta Vista Garden Club will be participating in a nationwide daffodil planting project at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the at the Veterans' Memorial Park, at the Gurley and Sheldon streets intersection.
This project - called Golden Days - was created to honor past garden club members through out the nation.
Members of the club will plant 500 daffodil bulbs and 500 blue grape hyacinth bulbs. Last year the club planted 300 daffodils around the Pioneer's statue.
This planting is consistent with the group's ongoing beautification plan for Prescott's public places. It also is a way of drawing attention to the recently rebuilt memorial to veterans.
Alta Vista Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs and will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2011.
The club exists to promote and stimulate interest in gardening, aid in protection of native plants and to promote general civic improvement in the Prescott area.
