Yavapai County Education Foundation honors outstanding teachers

The Yavapai County Education Foundation recognized the county's outstanding teachers at its May 7 awards ceremony and banquet.

The category winners and finalists included:

• PreK-Grade 3: Danette Derickson, Liberty Traditional School, winner; and Kimberly Grant, Mountain View Elementary and Sally Roer, Del Rio Elementary School, finalists.

• Grade 4-8: Debra Gearhart-Golden, Del Rio Elementary School, winner; and Lisa Clemson, Oak Creek School and Raymond Sommer, Prescott Mile High Middle School, finalists.

• Cross-Grade: Xavier Magdaleno, Mountain View Elementary, winner; and Vanessa DiCarlo, Cottonwood Elementary, and Jason Teague, Cottonwood Middle, finalists.

• High School: Laura Goligoski, Bradshaw Mountain High School, category winner and the 2010 Yavapai County Teacher of the Year; and Debra Fitzgerald, Prescott High School, and Kevin Schoenfeld, Chino Valley High School, category finalists.

• Small Districts: Kevin Eastman, Kestrel High School, winner; and Kendal Healey, Acorn Montessori, and Vicki Laskowski, Bagdad Elementary, finalists.

• Outstanding First Year Teacher: Alisa Novoselick, Camp Verde High, winner; and Rick Garrish, BMHS, and Jessica Marks, Liberty Traditional, finalists.
