Radio astronomy, star viewing events coming up
The Prescott Astronomy Club is offering two free events next week.
On Thursday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Founders Suite at the Prescott Public Library, Ray Fobes from the Prescott Astronomy Club and Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University will present "Why Radio Astronomy."
His presentation will focus on what radio astronomy is, its benefits to modern astrophysical studies, and why we need this different window on the universe.
On Saturday, May 22, from 8-10 p.m., the Prescott Astronomy Club will present a public star party at Watson Lake. Saturn, Mars and the Earth's moon will be visible, weather permitting.
PAC members will have telescopes and binoculars available for viewing by the public; non-members are welcome to bring their telescopes and binoculars or view through PAC members' equipment.
