Obituary: Gary Michael Flynn

Gary Michael Flynn was 75 years old when he passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2010, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on July 16,1934 in Spokane, Wash. to John and Mary (Shine) Flynn. He is one of four sons.

Throughout his 75 years, Gary's life was marked by service professionally, but most importantly, personally. As well as serving our country in the United States Marine Corps, he served with distinction as an officer for 28 years with the Seattle, Wash. Police Department. When Gary and Cynthia relocated to Prescott, Ariz., Gary became affiliated with the Prescott Library and enjoyed this work immensely.

To those family members, friends and neighbors who have had the privilege of knowing Gary on a personal level, his good deeds and kind heart left the most significant and long lasting impression. Over the years, he gave of his time, energy and support so generously and willingly in ways too many to mention. Gary's passing surely leaves a deep void, and he will be sorely missed.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Cynthia; his brothers, John Patrick, David, Paul and their families.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Prescott City Library in honor of Gary's community service during the last years of his life.

The memorial service for Gary will be on Friday, May 14, 2010 at The Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz. A viewing for family and friends will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2 p.m. with full military honors by American Legion Post #6. Reception following the service from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Prescott City Library.

The family invites you to sign Gary's guestbook at heritagefuneralchapels.com. Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
