Dorrean was born Winnetta Dorrean Graves in Prescott, Ariz., on May 12, 1947, to Sam and Elizabeth Graves.

She passed away the morning of Sunday, May 2, 2010, due to pancreatic cancer. It's her life in between that is of great significance.

Dorrean graduated from Prescott High School in 1969 and then attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a B.A. in education. Her first teaching opportunity out of college came from Ganado on the Navajo Reservation, then later Red Mesa and Chinle where she met Marcus and started her family. She would move eventually to Chino Valley and teach history at Prescott High School until her retirement in 2007.

Dorrean is survived by her husband, Marcus Walker of Chino Valley; daughter, Beth Martz and her husband Brad of Chandler, Ariz.; daughter, Marla Payne and her husband Mark of Dewey, Ariz.; sister, Ede and her husband Ernie of Whitefish, Mont.; sister, Gloria Bowser and her husband David of Pueblo, Colo.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Chino Valley United Methodist Church, 735 E. Road 1 South.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice unit of Good Samaritan Society of Prescott, 1065 Ruth St., Prescott, AZ 86301.
