United Animal Friends (UAF) plans a two-day adoption event and bake sale this weekend to benefit its emergency medical fund and also to help pay medical bills for 4-month-old puppy, Tilly.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Petco at the Frontier Village shopping center.
The puppy broke her leg in a fall, and because her family could not afford to take her to a veterinarian, they relinquished her to the Yavapai Humane Society. Tilly is now in a UAF foster home after surgery that UAF arranged and will be available for adoption when she recovers. For more information, call 778-2924.
In addition, UAF is also collecting dog and cat food this weekend for its pet food bank that benefits needy families in the area. Anyone who donates pet food will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to its second Woof Down Lunch, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, on the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza.
UAF is seeking vendors and sponsors for the Woof Down Lunch. Booths are available for dog and cat food and pet-related products as well as artists and crafters.
Attendees will receive a handcrafted pet bowl, pet food samples and a "people" lunch provided by local restaurants. The event will also feature pet games, contests, demonstrations by animal professionals, educational information and introductions to available pets.
For more information about reserving a vendor booth or becoming a sponsor, e-mail Bonny Lepore at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Bob Viscount at 717-4408 or email@example.com.
UAF also has a "wish list" to help the pet rescue group. Needs include a van to transport animals to adoption events and veterinarian appointments. UAF would also like folding metal crates, folding tables, canopies for outdoor events, gas cards for transport vehicles, durable beds, gift cards for PetSmart, Petco, Olsen's Grain, Costco and Sam's Club, leashes and collars, cat and dog beds for foster homes along with high-quality dog and cat food for its pet food bank.
To make a donation, contact UAF's phone line at 778-2924 or Andrea at 899-3481.
