Letter: Stop Flagstaff resort; deal with water

EDITOR:

Where is the water going to come from for an all "green" resort and tribal casino the Navajo tribe plans to build a few miles east of Flagstaff?

Doesn't the Navajo tribe know there is a water crisis in Arizona? Flagstaff has been looking for water! Just south of Flagstaff, the Verde Valley communities have a current dispute with Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Chino Valley over the Verde River water rights. These three communities' opposition is the Salt River Project (SRP) based in Phoenix along with the Yavapai-Apache Nation. And, too, other tribes as well as other states are worried about future potable water.

So, how is the Navajo tribe going to provide a "green" resort that is reported in their plans for their newest casino just outside Flagstaff? And, a swimming pool for the resort and a golf course!

Councilmen and people of Flagstaff more than anyone should be opposing this Navajo project - Flagstaff has a water shortage problem! Unless the Navajo tribe will provide the water from wherever they can find it for its "green" resort and casino project, it should not be built!
