YBBBS Child of the Week: Dane
Meet Dane. He is a typical active eight-year-old. Dane lives with his mother, older brother and younger sister. He is known as the quiet and shy one in his family, but he is very bright and inquisitive. He is very caring and protective of his little sister.
Dane likes doing just about anything outdoors, especially sports, and is a very physically active boy. He likes to build his own toys. Dane likes school and thought his teachers this past year were great. He is new to the area so has only made a few friends in school. His favorite subjects include science and recess. His least-favorite subject is math.Dane is a total "Spiderman" nut. When he grows up he wants to be a superhero or a fireman.
Dane is excited about having a Big Brother. His mother would like for him to be matched with an outgoing Big Brother whose one-on-one interaction with Dane would help him come out of his shell.
Like many of the boys waiting for a Big Brother, Dane needs a positive male role model in his life. How can we expect these boys to grow up and be good, responsible men if they don't have any male role models? Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers say that they get as much out of being matched as their Little. Sign up today to be a Big Brother or Big Sister to a child like Dane. It only takes a few hours a couple of times a month to take part in activities that you both enjoy. Call Big Brothers Big Sisters today to find out how easy it is to become a Big.
