HUSD approves all-day kindergarten fee reduction
On June 1, the Humboldt Unified School District Governing Board approved a $5 per-day fee for 2010-11 all-day kindergarten students who are eligible to receive free or reduced meals.
Students are eligible for free or reduced meals based on specific income guidelines and other criteria, based on a completed federal government application. The 2010-2011 Free or Reduced application form will be available at www.humboldtunified.com or at the Food and Nutrition Office, 6411 N. Robert Rd., Prescott Valley, as of Monday, Aug. 2. Upon approval, the Food and Nutrition Department will mail an official letter to parents. Parents must present this document to the school to receive the $5 fee reduction.
Newly enrolled kindergartners with older siblings in HUSD who have qualified for Free or Reduced meals will receive the discount for a period of 30 days, pending processing of the application. All other all-day kindergarten students will pay $10 per day until the district receives approval of their applications.
Half-day kindergarten is free of charge.
Additional information about Free or Reduced eligibility is available by calling Janet Golleher at 759-5013 beginning July 27. Parents and guardians should contact their school office for more information about full-day kindergarten fee payment.
