Wrong-way driver arrested on charges of extreme DUI
Prescott Valley police arrested a man Thursday on charges including extreme DUI after he was seen swerving and driving into oncoming lanes of traffic along State Route 89A.
Officers booked Jeffrey Donaldson, 50, of Prescott Valley into the Camp Verde jail on charges of felony unlawful flight, six counts of endangerment, reckless driving, extreme DUI and three additional DUI charges.
At 9:06 p.m., officers answered a call about a wrong-way driver, said Sgt. Brandon Bonney, spokesman for the Prescott Valley Police Department.
Officers tried to stop Donaldson in his white 2004 Dodge pickup truck on Coyote Springs Road near State Route 89A, but once officers turned on their emergency lights, Donaldson fled northbound in both northbound and southbound lanes, Bonney said.
When the truck stopped in the oncoming lane, officers exited their patrol cars to take him into custody, but he sped away again.
Donaldson eventually stopped farther down the road and officers tried to arrest him again, but he turned left to flee again and struck a patrol car, causing front-end damage, Bonney said.
Donaldson drove another mile down the road before officers stopped him.
Officers noticed Donaldson showed signs of impairment and arrested him.
No one was injured during the incident, Bonney said.
