The Chino Valley Aquatic Center opened May 26 and offers several classes in addition to public swimming, running through Aug. 15.
The pool (Aquatic Center) is located at 1615 N. Road 1 East at Perkinsville Road.
The Learn to Swim program for all ages is a 30-minute group instruction class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 11-11:30 a.m., 11:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m., or 12:20-12:50 p.m. Three sessions are offered this summer - June 7-23, June 25-July 12 and July 14-30. Cost per session is $30. The pool staff describes the programs as "an enjoyable experience for participants in which every student is encouraged through a series of journeys and adventures that teach swimming skills as well as water safety. Instructors focus on reinforcement and encouragement to facilitate students' successful progress. All instructors and instructors' aides undergo thorough training with the American Red Cross' Water Safety Instructor (WSI) program."
Also the pool staff offers an Aqua Fit water exercise class both day or evening - 9-10 a.m. or 10-11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for Session #1 on June 8-26 and Session #2 on June 29-July 17. Evening Aqua Fit classes are 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for Session #3 on June 7-July 5 and Session #4 on July 7-Aug. 5. Cost of the Aqua Fit classes is $35 per session.
Lap Swim times are 9-10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Therapy and Adult Swims are 10-11 a.m., which is for individuals with physical limitations and those who like to swim without distractions. Parent-Tot Swims are noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, for parents with tots ages 6 and younger.
Public Swim times are 1-5 p.m. all week, including Sundays, and Lap Swims are available during the afternoon swims.
Daily cost of Swims (not classes) is $2 for children and youth ages 4 to 17 with ages 3 and younger free; adults are $3 and a family costs $10. Season passes cost $50 for a single youth pass, ages 10 and older; $80 for a single adult pass; and $130 for a family pass with up to five immediate family members.
Private rental times of the pool are available 6-9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 5-9 p.m. on Sundays
